Self love is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. It is critical, actually. How you see yourself, feel about yourself and treat yourself will directly affect how you see and treat others. Self love is not the easiest for some, I agree. I battled with it, too. I had a hard time loving ME for a period of time. I would look at myself in the mirror and I didn't like what I saw. And I definitely wasn't able to "love" me. I had to get a place where I had to literally tell myself that I WAS worthy... I WAS somebody!
After sharing my feelings with my inner circle, they assured me I was not the only one having challenges in this area. They also battled with appreciating and loving themselves. I was relieved and shocked at the same time because my closest circle of confidantes are strong, independent and confident. Hearing them say I wasn't alone helped me realize we as women know how to function and do what we have to do even though we are hurting and broken on the inside. How do we fix this?
Loving you FIRST is key!
One of the first steps is to surround yourself around those who are going to keep you motivated, focused and encouraged. WHO we have in our space, in our atmosphere makes a huge difference in how we see ourselves and how we relate and connect to them. If you feel negatively about yourself it will be really hard to be supportive for others or believe in yourself. You may even feel jealous or envious of others. But the right group of friends will help you see the best in you and remind of you the GREAT things that are inside you!
